The One’s I’m Watching in 2015.

The minute I heard the track “On the Regular” I’ve been completely obsessed with this dude. Signed to the home of awesomely cool music ‘XL Recordings,’ 2015 is THE year ‘Shamir’ will dominate the charts, music world and galaxy beyond. I was somewhat disppointed he didn’t land higher in BBC’s Sound of 2015 poll but hey what do I know. I’ll be 100% playing his track on my show tomorrow. If you want a music artist to make you dance unashamedly whilst walking to work in morning, or on the dance floor at any indie disco across the nation then this is your man.

I am definitely one who roots for the underdog and having discovered this awesome chappy towards the end of last year I thought it was my little secret treasure that no one else had yet discovered this extraordinary talent. How wrong I was! After completely smashing it at ‘Radio 1’s Futures Festival’ and stealing the show from all of the other artists on the bill, the cat was well and truly out of the bag. To describe him as a fresh take on James Blake would be a disservice. With a voice that would make Luther Van Dross jealous, this guy is creating something very special. Layered dance electronica beats coupled with his rich smooth should vocals are a sound to be devoured.

I LOVE THIS BAND! Signed to Domino Records in 2013, these guys have been working hard to come out with some pretty great indie tunes and latest single “To Die For” is just that. Produced by Chris Rankin (who has worked with Queens of the Stoneage, and Bombay Bicycle Club to name a few) there’s no doubting this is a very good start to 2015. I expect to see them on the Mainstage at festivals soon.

Two guys, banging punchy vocals, grungy guitar riffs and a whole lot of attitude. That pretty much sums up these lads. Having spent the end of the year supporting Jamie T, (I missed them at the Ally Pally gig…don’t go there) and making it onto the ‘A playlist’ on Radio 1 and XFM these lads are making music which is right up my street. Latest single ‘The Hunter’ is all sorts of grungy goodness, which makes you contort your face in a manner like you’re squaring up to the high school bully without fear. Its loud, its raucous and it is oh so good.

Aside from the above artist theres a few token tracks which have surfaced and I’m rinsing daily on my spotify. First Arman Van Helden’s remix of Majestic and Jungle 70 – ‘Creeping in the Dark.’ ‘Tchami’s Promessess,’ Mark Ronson’s track ‘Daffodils’ ft Tame Impala vocalist Kevin Parker and Joey Badass’ collab’ with girl of the moment Keisza ‘Teach Me.’
